This was a short book with a whole lot packed into it. A good, entertaining story.

I don't typically read YA, so the writing style is just something I haven't visited in awhile. Especially for it being her first novel, I really enjoyed the story; it's such a unique and creative idea. I love a good twist, and this book had quite a few! An entertaining page-turner with great life lessons. I did feel like the lessons were quickly glossed over a bit and wish there were more impactful moments of pause between them so the reader can have a chance to think about/feel them more before diving right into the next paragraph. I also feel everything really sped up for the second half and wish it carefully progressed like the first half. Just felt a little lopsided, but overall, I enjoyed it!

I thought the concept of this story sounded interesting and the sort of book that I like to read but I found myself not being invested in the characters very much, perhaps because it wasn’t that long of a book? The book didn’t hold my attention very well so some of the flashbacks and memories I didn’t realize they were in the past but I didn’t really feel like going back and rereading.

Sadly, this one was a miss for me. The writing felt shallow, like it only skimmed the surface of character feelings & worldbuilding, so what started as a cool concept fell flat. Also, I felt ZERO chemistry between Etta and the male lead. The entire main journey from Craewick and back was only 4 days, far too quick for the intensity of what they supposedly felt. Also, it seemed like 80% of this book was dialogue, with important people conveniently confessing huge secrets to Etta right and left. To sum it up… show, don’t just tell.

This book was confusing. I really liked the concept and the inspiration for this story but the execution was flawed. Worldbuilding felt incomplete, characters contradicted themselves, and some scenes were just confusing with how time passes or what occurred in a scene. The romance was unnecessary and not believable - would have been fine if they were just friends. Wasn't impressed by writing style or characters. Ending was also pretty meh. The plot twist in the middle of the book was good though.

This book was really good! It was so easy to get into and the concept so intriguing, where memories are the currency, but can be used as weapons as well. You get to follow a girl who need to save her mother and on her way she battle pressed down trauma as well as handling the consequences from her doings. In between all the plot twists and fights she finds something she never thought she would find or ever relive again. I really ate this shit up, it was no problem getting into the world and the pace was fast but not to fast, it still had time for some deal breaking plot twists. I loved the characters, they really had their own quirks and qualities.

This book is filled with quest, action, trauma resolve, romance, family, amazing world concept. Would absolutely recommend this book.

I really enjoyed the overall plot of THE MEMORY THIEF.

There were some neat revelations and surprises throughout the story, the world was interesting and I Enjoyed the characters.

The romance was meh. I am not a fan of the insta-love with no real build up. Etta goes from not trusting Reid to trusting him with her life in a snap. My biggest issue with THE MEMORY THIEF was the pacing. Seems to go from a nice pace with buildup to way too fast towards the end and through the major showdown.

I enjoyed the overall story and would read more in this world if more books were written.
