I wouldn't call this a "gripping mystery", but it was a light, enjoyable read.
Loved this story...is there anything more wondrous and excruciating than being a teenage girl?
It felt like reading a YA book and a coming of age story. I listened via audio book and found myself looking forward to getting back in the car so I could listen. Not the most riveting plot, but something that kept me interested the whole time.

Another masterpiece by Vendela Vida. I'm generally not into teen fiction or young adult but when the characters are this whip smart, it's hard to not be. This is my third or fourth book by this author this year - which I know is excessive - but she's just sooo good. Kinda funny that the recommendation came through Goodreads and another writer I adore - Marcy Dermansky - but am not personally acquainted with, I'm just sitting here reading all of Vendala Vida's back catalogue whilst waiting for Dermansky's new book to publish.
No spoilers because the joy is in the reading, not the reading about.

I really liked this. It was almost a free flow story where you learn bits about the main girl growing up and her peripheral family and friends
A group of 13 yo girls make up the alpha friend group in their private school. Eulabee and her bff, Maria Fabiola, have a falling out over truth-telling and Eulabee finds herself ostracized by the other girls. This novel is inhabitants by quirky characters, including Eulabee. She struggles to define herself and her place in the world.
I loved this book! A quirky, witty, wise-beyond her years, often hilarious and always real narrator, a great coming of age story and real, fleshed-out characters. it all adds up to an absolute delight of a book!
Thank you NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange of an honest review.
My rating: ★★★
I think my expectations were higher for this one, but I do only have myself to blame for that.
Sometimes I didn't connect with the characters, and I hated the girls sometimes, too, which it can be ignored because they're teenagers. Overall, it wasn't a bad book, but it's not something I would recommend to someone or would .like to read again, either.
