“I stand there, on the cusp of the ocean and listen to its loud inhale. And then it recedes and takes everything from my childhood with it."

A riveting book about the tenuous, fragile nature of teenage relationships. Vida does an excellent job capturing the breathless importance of friendships, crushes, and the self when the self is still very much being formed.

Such a unique and almost refreshing saga. Part mystery, part love letter to San Francisco, all an incredible coming of age story. Hard to put down and I truly ate it up!

I was not expecting to like this as much as I did!!!!!

The prose gives this book an extra star

This was a 3.5 star for me. I enjoyed the characters and seeing how Eulabee chose to respond to peer pressure despite pressure to lie (in multiple scenarios). I also liked seeing the ending that reaffirmed that the characters didn’t change even after all those years. I wish the book was longer to dig deeper into some of the things that happened. I didn’t find myself too invested or captivated by this book - almost like the concept was more exciting than the actual book. But all in all I would recommend to others
