Phoenix lives his life off the grid out in the woods just like his buddies while providing for only himself and he has always been perfectly fine on his own, until the day he meets Jenna. Jenna left her life of luxury because it was tainted by people who only used her for her family’s money and the family that is suppose to support and love you only care about their stature. She is now out to prove she can live her life they way she wants with no influence of her past and when she meets Phoenix something immediately clicks in place for them. Phoenix has never felt this way for anyone let alone so intensely, but the draw to Jenna is too strong yet in the back of his mind he still worries she will regret leaving her lifestyle and want to run back. Jenna has no intentions to return to the way things were, but she has to show Phoenix she is all in yet when her past continues to surprise her will Phoenix stand by her or let her go to make her own choices? This series has been so much fun to read, with passion, loving the life you live, and strength in friends. I can’t wait for more especially Cash because I know his story will be emotional.

This was a wonderful mountain man romance. I loved the way the story was written, primarily dual point of view with an occasional chapter from Emelie’s point of view, and I loved “Take Me to the River” so getting those chapters from her point of view was amazing.

Jenna and Phoenix had such a unique and wonderful build up of their romance. Instant attraction and connection but then it took a while for it to blossom but when it did, wow did they bring on the steam. I loved it and I can’t wait to read the nest story and get to know Cash a bit more.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a cute second addition to this series. Jenna and Phoenix had cute moments and I thought they were a good match for other. What made my rating come down was that it kind of felt a little slow with a lot of their wood adventures. I’m excited about the next book because Cash deserves some happiness in his life!

*I read an ARC for an honest review.

Take Me To The Cabin by Kaci Rose is a billionaire mountain man romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lacie Glennox and Walker Williams. This is the second book in the Mountain Men Of Whiskey River series.

This is the second book of Kaci's that I have read, and it won't be my last. The relationship between Jenna and Phoenix is fast paced but I loved them together. I really enjoyed getting Jenna, Phoenix, and Emily's points of view throughout the book.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Take Me To The Lake to be released on audio so I can get Cash and Hope's story.

Walker and Lacie did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like instant connection romances, mountain man romances, or contemporary romance.

The first book wasn't written well, but the story was interesting enough fluff that was entertaining enough during my commute. This one though, if it saw an editor they should find new work. There were just such sloppy mistakes, where the other guy's names would be confused. Like Phoenix called Bennett, then hung up to call Cash, and it said he had just gotten off the call with Axel. Really simple mistakes like that where you're not even paying attention.

What was the final nail in the coffin was Jenna finding out that Phoenix was orphaned in a car crash as a teen (which, funny story, Emily was orphaned in a car crash as a teen too! I didn't realize losing both parents in a car accident was so commonplace.). She finds out he originally came from money, and even though he's been living in the middle of the mountains alone ever since, she has to stay away from him because she's running from her old life where people controlled you because they had money.

I know every romance has the we-have-to-be-stupid-before-our-HEA, but that is fucking ridiculous.

I'm just sad I didn't get to his deflowering to see how that went. Though considering his second kiss ever he was amazing at and for someone who has had no action was able to dry hump her to orgasm first go round, I'm sure he would have been a natural with his Pringle can cock lasting an hour with all the right moves instead of coming in one and a half thrusts.
