WOW! WOW! WOW!
I went into this book blind - having not read Games with an Orc and I was flabbergasted with how much I devoured this book. It had the perfect among of spice, smut, plot and tension.
Hannah is a newly turned werewolf who is greatly struggling with her new life as a "monster". She is an indie rockstar who believes whole-heartedly that she was hunted down and turned on-purpose. Rafe is a gargoyle sex-worker who typically takes the tough and rough clients since he's nearly indestructible. However, Rafe is starting to lose his passion and reason for being a sex-worker.
Things get turned upside down when Hannah can't control her urges and hires Rafe to assist her. Hannah starts to find control and understanding in her new "skin" and Rafe starts to find his reason and passion.
The smut and spice were *chefs kiss* PHENOMENAL. Even during the marathon sex scenes, I didn't feel overwhelmed by the smut. The plot was also really interesting - while nothing was a big shocker or turn of events, this read was extremely enjoyable.
Kinks / Tropes included:
-Soft dom FMC
-Male sex worker
-Primal play
-Pegging
-Multiple orgasms / importance of orgasm
-Finding your inner beast
Thank you to Kathryn Moon for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was just adorable! This series is so fun and cute, and surprisingly heartwarming. I caught myself a handful of times, just reading this with a goofy grin on my face. Kathryn Moon does such a wonderful job writing things in this genre that feel new, thoughtful, empowering, and creative, and that’s what really makes me a fan of her writing.
In this story, we have a “monster” protagonist as well as a “monster” love interest! Hannah is a werewolf, unpacking the trauma of the attack that transformed her, and we see her really embark on a healing journey in this book. I thought it was super clever for Kathryn to make her a singer, too, so that she’s really forced to confront how the transformation has affected her voice and her identity as a musician. Hannah is gentle and initially at odds with the aggressive tendencies her werewolf side possesses, and she worries that she’ll hurt the people around her if she can’t find a safer way to get her needs met. Enter: Rafe.
Rafe is a gargoyle sex worker who is (pardon the pun) stuck in a rut, going through the motions in his job. Because of his natural strength and sturdiness, he gets assigned the more rough and rowdy clients, and he’s slowly realizing he’s not enjoying himself anymore. Until Hannah, who bucks the stereotypes of her species, who fascinates him, who cares as much for his enjoyment as her own.
The exploration these two have together, the safety they create for one another, was just so fun to read. The relationship, the sense of discovery, and the emotional healing for both characters is definitely the primary focus of the book. There are just enough story beats threaded through to give the book structure, but what kept me riveted was how fully Kathryn brought these two lovebirds to life. I had so much fun with this, and I’m excited for the next book in this world!
Special thank you to Kathryn Moon for the e-ARC! All thoughts are my own.
