I understand that there is some aspect of suspending your reality with fiction, but LA seems huge… would people really run into each other so much?

It was a fine story for an escapist love story

After a lot of heavy reads, this was the book-candy that I needed! Also a perfect vacation read.

I thought this book was going to be 100% for me, but it turned out to be about 35% for me. The rest of it left me feeling like I’m failing at having anxiety and gave me 0 reason to care for a single character. The sheer amount of plot lines was overwhelming - maybe I would’ve enjoyed it more as a physical book, but it just didn’t hit the mark.

Side note: if my partner referred to me needing space after a panic attacked as “throwing him under the bus every time I lose my composure” I’d simply dump him :)

This book was utterly adorable! Fun characters, witty dialogue, excellent story... truly enjoyable. I will say my least favorite part was the romance, but I think that’s just because it paled in comparison to all of the other interesting relationships and characters. I don’t think you ever get to know Tom as well as you should. However, the rest of the story definitely makes up for that flaw!! Loved it, and can’t wait to read more by Abbi Waxman!

i read a lot of books about people who love books, and this has got to be one of my favorites. i love how the main character and her family all had their quirks, and i think that this book has a unique sense of humor and self-assured confidence that the author needed to make the story work. i loved nina as a main character, her somewhat useless (but always interesting) knowledge and her passion for books and her love for being alone really brought me closer to this bookish main character. i think the main reason that i gave this a 4.5 stars was that the whole book felt like 500 days of summer, and i don't know why, and i love that movie but i have major beef with tom and the fact that the love interest's name is tom irked me. also the romance was not big in this one, but in this sense it made sense for the plot because this was less of a rom com and more of a literary fiction. regardless, i loved the vibes and would recommend for the book lovers. 4.5 ⭐️.

This was a cute book, but I could've used a little more bookish-ness for that being in the title! I found Nina at times super relatable (all the introvert stuff and the love of books/organizing/planning) and at times suuuuper frustrating (everything with Tom!!!)

I wanted Nina to have more interaction with her new-found family. Conflicts with them were resolved pretty quickly.
