This story was chaotic from start to finish, bordering on magical realism (I haven’t read a James Patterson book since Maximum Ride in middle school. Have they always been like this?). 3.5 stars. I’ve rounded up bc it was to the point of hilarity at times and also I just like Dolly Parton. I highly recommend the audiobook. The cast did a great job and are the main reason I saw this book through to the end. I checked it out from the library, started it too late (so they snatched it back right as it was getting interesting), and then had to wait weeks to get it back so I could finish it. This book was 90% manic-pixie-dream-Mary-sue’s rise to stardom and 10% oh-wait-you-guys-don’t-forget-this-is-a-thriller!

I think the book was fine but not for me..... I would say more like 2.5 . Not thriller at all I'd say . A little mystery...ish.... ahhaah the story line was cutesy and there was lots to do with music which I guess is an obvious thing having Dolly working on it. But I think just not enough happening for me. And the main character was a little to hard for me just meh .

Run Rose, Run was a quick and easy read, mostly entertaining, but I was also a tiny bit bored every now and then

I got 40% of the way through before I put it down. First of all, I love Dolly as a person. I listened to Dolly Parton's America and she is truly great! But I am no country music fan. The story is about making it as a country singer in Nashville, so I really had no business reading this in the first place. The girl who is trying to make it is somehow so magnificent and lucky that she managed to go from homelessness to being cared for by the Dolly-equivalent of the novel in a few days. The thriller part has only peeked its head up once but otherwise this is a novel about the music and the industry.

A story about an aspiring country music singer with a secret past that comes back to haunt her.

This was a light and easy read. You can definitely see Dolly Parton in this book. Delicate and simple are other words that come to mind.

I would recommend it to anyone looking to get out of a book slump and that is a fan of country music and song writing.

This book was awful in more ways than I'm willing to list because I've already exhausted enough energy with this book.
