I am fond of Dolly Parton but not a fan of James Patterson. I was hoping to enjoy this book but it was - awful. The plot is not believable, and the characters are not endearing. I finally just skimmed the last 100 pages just to finish it.
Love Dolly, just maybe not a James Patterson girl? Cute and simple. The corresponding album is great so maybe just listen to that and skip the reading.
A gripping and heartbreaking book that I couldn’t put down. It was definitely a rollicking thriller by two of our greatest storytellers.

Got half way and still didn’t care about the mystery. The audio was great, loved Kelsea and Dolly, but not enough to care about the story.

I loved this because I could hear Dolly telling this (albeit not the most original) story of a Nashville fairy tale where a poor young girl is discovered by a country music queen who takes the beautiful songbird under her wing and mentors her into happily ever after. While the plot is nothing special, the themes of women's roles in country music are fully explored and the reader gets the sense that the industry in Nashville is exactly as portrayed in the book - cutthroat and inaccessible to many of the wanna be singers and songwriters that come to Music City, no matter how talented they are. I appreciated the backstory of how women can uplift other women and mentor them. I love that Dolly is telling her story too, although the character of the superstar actually seems to be a mix of Dolly and Reba. If you love the idea of reading about Nashville and the Music City scene, this is a must read. Dolly even adds a surprise epilogue for us to enjoy.
Entertaining book. Felt like it was a little autobiographical with the main character who was a small person with a powerful voice and mad songwriting skills but that was to be expected. Still really enjoyed it
