Soo slow!! I was so disappointed in this book. I absolutely LOVE Dolly Parton and James Patterson is a great author, but it was extremely hard to get into and I couldn't wait for it to be over.
lighthearted
fast-paced
When I heard Dolly Parton was involved in writing this book, I had to get it - and I am so glad I did!
This is one of my favourite books, and have been recommending it to anyone that will listen.
The story is about a young woman, AnnieLee Keyes, who goes from sleeping rough to becoming a country singer taking the industry by storm. Every character is charming and likeable, and the focus is mostly on her music career. But AnnieLee has secrets she is keeping from everyone around her. These secrets are gradually unveiled throughout the story in an interesting way that doesn’t feel forced.
This was going to be 5-star, but my only criticism is that the end of the story felt slightly rushed. There could have been an extra chapter in there for the pay-off. But other than that, I can’t complain at all.
I’ve never really read anything by James Patterson before, but after this, I’m definitely considering it.

As long as your expectations are set appropriately it’s a fun read. It’s like reading a lifetime movie
I rounded up from 2 because of Dolly Parton’s involvement and her being in the audio book. The story was lacking but too long at the same time.
A woman with a past she wants to keep secret at all costs chases her dream of singing her songs for anyone who will listen. Making her way to Nashville with her thumb out and only a back pack to cradle her few belongings she discovers that dreams do come true when the bar where she manages to sing a few of her songs is owned by the queen of country music. The man that introduces them is besotted from the first note of her angelic voice and struggles with the secrets she keeps. Danger follows her like a bad smell and her past will not leave her alone. It's a great story, with incredible songs, a dark tragic past that haunts all three characters and a love that can heal all wounds, if they are willing to take the chance.
Highly recommend listening to this one. Dolly is a future saint!
