Not a typical Patterson, cute mentions of Tulsa and the famous Cain’s ballroom.
Other than that, bit lackluster of a read.
Listened to a bit on audio to hear Dolly, but preferred the physical copy.

Solid book. Everything wraps up in true Patterson style.

I loved listening to this, Dolly Parton is a legend and she read her parts so well, completely bought this story to life.

The only reason this didn’t get a higher rating is I felt the uncovering of Rose’s secret was a little too rushed but I still enjoyed it and I liked the kinda ‘happy ever after’

I love Dolly, so I’m going to blame this on James Patterson. It’s starts off well enough, but by 2/3 of the way through really goes off the rails.

What happens when you mix the country music world with James Patterson? A Fast paced thriller. I always enjoy James Patterson books. This was was different. I listened to the audio and was pleasantly surprised that not only did Dolly Parton co-write, she was one of the narrators on the audiobook. It was interesting to see the "behind the scenes" of the day in the life of an upcoming country music starlet and the Queen of Country who becomes her mentor and family. Of course, there's always the mystery of who is the startlet and why is is on the run? Some twists and turns I didn't see coming.

I wanted to like this book so badly but when I see thriller as a genre I expect a whole lot more from a book than just a little dark past.

The majority of this book was singing and writing which for some people would make for a great read but not me.

I was tremendously let down with the lack of plot and repetitiveness of certain actions throughout.

I almost quit this book about of a third of the way through as it was very very slow and the plot was weak. I kept going and the last quarter of the book picked up along with the plot. The story follows AnnieLee a country music wannabe and her climb up the Nashville singing industry. The sub plots were the most interesting following the mystery of her past and her romance with another singer. It wasn’t a horrible book at the end but it wasn’t great either. I give this 3/5.

An amazing read! Hands down the best book I have read in 2022.
