I ended up abandoning it. Not enough mystery or thriller aspects.

I liked this book more than I thought I would and I highly recommend listening to it since Dolly reads for a character! I liked the friendships formed along the way and Annie Lee’s strong sense of character and self respect. Ethan and Ruth Ann were great too! I did feel like it was a little silly the further the story went as AL is reluctant to tell about her true past. Did she think becoming famous would give her cover? Obviously it makes her more exposed to problems from the past! But I did like the ending and overall thought it was a sweet story.

Fun unrealistic stardom
Dolly

Love the performance factor on the audiobook and hearing Dolly! The story could’ve been better and more realistic.

AnnieLee arrives in Nashville attempting to fulfill a dream of becoming a singer.  However, she is running from something or someone.  When she walks on stage at the Cat's Paw and starts singing, Ethan Blake texts Ruthanna Ryder, a famous singer, to come and hear AnnieLee.  Ruthanna does and immediately becomes a mentor of sorts to AnnieLee.  After AnnieLee is mugged, Ethan becomes her bodyguard but AnnieLee won't tell him who or what she's running from...until it's almost too late.

As per usual with James Patterson's books, it was a very fast read.  I was intrigued by the fact that Dolly co-wrote it with him and some of her "shine" showed through.  Having recently been to Nashville for the first time, it was neat being able to place some of the real honky-tonks and locations mentioned in the book.
