I loved this book, but I felt like the ending was too abrupt! I wanted to hear more about the crux of the plot.
Graphic: Sexual violence, Suicide, Kidnapping
I listened to the audiobook. Other than having Dolly Parton read her part, the book was very pedantic.

The country music parts are a lot of fun! The SECRET DARK PAST could've been left out.

I love Dolly Parton, but this book was really, really boring. It was supposed to be a mystery/thriller, but it never really felt that way until the end. The entire story was almost entirely fluff exposition. And then all of the action was squished into the last 50 pages or so. I just wish it would have been the book it advertised.

DNF at 53%. I listened to this on audio and enjoyed the full cast. I was disappointed that nobody sang any of the songs. It's a book about country music, written and starring Dolly Parton as one of the key MCs, and they didn't even hum. Beyond that, the story was predictable and boring. It wasn't terrible, but I didn't care at all to keep reading to see what happened next. A real story about what it really takes to succeed, or spend a lifetime trying, in Nashville would have been much more interesting. A story about a pretty prodigy, who has all the doors fall open for her, was not worth any more time.
