A thrilling story with a female lead. There’s romance but more than anything the story is about determination, and not letting your past determine your future.

What brilliant page turner this turned out to be I thoroughly enjoyed it even though I could strangely hear Dolly Parton in every spoke word and every country song I highly recommend this book!

I enjoyed this story but found it a bit slow. In typical Patterson style, nice short chapters keep the momentum going, but I just felt the middle was full of fillers to bump up the word count. I love Dolly, so this was a must-read for me, I do feel that she had a lot of influence on the story. It certainly wasn’t as gory as Patterson’s books tend to be! I liked AnnieLee Keyes character, i think she read like a young Dolly!

I may have liked it better, if I was a country music fan. I also felt like it had too many people in the new rations but I do love Dolly Parton.

*Listened to audio

Nothing like a book to remind you that you're middle-aged...

"The safest thing to do was to play a cover. She knew that. Something old and beloved or else a song the middle-agers in the room would have sung in high school, "Strawberry Wine" maybe or "Friends in Low Places."

... Accurate, but ouch.

I listened to this on audio mainly because the queen herself narrates a character. It was such an incredible audiobook and hearing Ms Parton’s voice really set the tone for the Nashville scene! I quite enjoyed this story. I know it’s labeled as a thriller and I didn’t get a strong thriller vibe listening to it, but there is some mystery and it definitely kept me listening.

I expected a country thriller, I got a bad episode of Nashville.

One star purely because Dolly Parton is an actual saint!
