I had high hopes for this novel because I LOVE James Patterson, and I LOVE Dolly Parton's music. Maybe it was the fact it was an audiobook. The editing was not the best and it had "gaps" as in you can tell the voices were not recorded at the same time and then put together for the audio book. I also didn't really care for Dolly Parton's book voice. It sounded fake and like she struggled to read the script. Maybe if I read the book I would have liked it more, but then again, maybe not. I did not really care for the suspense of it. And then when the truth came out, I was like all that build up for that?!?! It wasn't really elaborated. I wanted to know the struggle and pain Rose went through. Then the clean up, or the ending was rushed. I was disappointed in the novel.

I have been eyeing this book and it has been on my to be read for a while, but the reviews on Goodreads had me nervous.

I got this audiobook on a “Skip the line” from Libby and I am so glad that I did, listen to this in audio format. I really don’t think this book would have been something I enjoyed if I had read it.

I don’t want to give so much away, but the audio book is amazing; it has an all star cast - Dolly Parton and Kelsea Ballerini. It’s amazing to hear Dolly bring her writing to life.

I did not think this book would have any twists, but did it ever.

If you love the show Nashville, you will love Run, Rose, Run! Just like I binged Nashville on Netflix, I could not read this book fast enough. The characters are wonderfully complex, the plot is intriguing with hints of romance throughout. A powerful story for anyone who's ever been trying to escape their past. The audiobook is a real treat with Dolly Parton playing a major role. Loved it!

tbh I couldn't finish reading because of all the sexual assault, suicide, and murder? but I did like how Dolly narrated part of it. That part was fun.

So boring. Everything was going so perfectly well for perfect AnnieLee. What was the point?

Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes

Annie Lee was not the spunky, quirky, tough-as-nails heroine she was painted out as. She was abrasive and self-centered, and it just didn't sit right with me. Unfortunate, because I do adore Dolly Parton and wanted to like this book.

DNF. I just couldn't get into it.
