I really enjoyed this book. The song quotes in it are the actual songs Dolly Parton recorded on an album, which is also pretty awesome. The storyline was pretty upbeat, with just enough intrigue to keep me from wanting to put the book down.
I loved this book, but it may have been partly because I listened to it on Audible and I just LOVE Dolly Parton! Highly recommend listening to this one rather than reading it

I didn’t hate it, but didn’t love it. Overall an easy and quick read. I enjoyed the characters but the story was nothing special.
Graphic: Gun violence, Sexual violence
I wanted to like this SO MUCH. I love dolly with a feirce passion. But this story was predictable, and frustrating, and annoying. And honestly pretty boring. I don't think i've rolled my eyes at a book so much in my life. And in sad, bc....Dolly. i love love love Dolly. Maybe she should partner with a different author next time.
I was honestly very hesitant to start this book because I am not a typical James Patterson fan, but I loved this book! Dolly Parton's voice definitely shines through in this novel, creating little sparks of laughter and sass that are much appreciated.
The book reads smoothly and quickly, wrapping around an aspiring star, a new love interest, the chase for fame, and an escape from the past. It may sound chaotic, but it all comes together so perfectly. I loved the description throughout the book. It led me to feel like I was in each scene and able to picture what was going on.
There are little spots of female empowerment that are absolutely appropriate and welcome, exposing the patriarchy of the music industry. Dolly Parton does not fudge on this bit, and she is known to unveil the secrets of the industry in the real world.
This book reads very quickly and I highly suggest it to anyone. It is a smooth read, full of love and adventure, and keeps you hanging on the edge of each page!

Not sure what I’d rate it, probably a 2.5. I adore Dolly, I’ve never read any JP. The number of times I rolled my eyes was not 0. The characters felt a little flat as did the story. I’m sure there are people out there who would love it, particularly if they knew nothing about the music industry, but wasn’t my cup of tea.
Wanted to love this but did not. I will get the soundtrack though because I liked the songs.

2 ⭐️ Honestly this book was disappointing. Too long, too many details, a story that should have been full of twists and excitement but instead followed a formula you could see coming from a mile away. I guess if you REALLY love country music and want a climbing to fame story was the smallest amount of mystery thrown in, you might enjoy it. For me I was disappointed in the storyline, disappointed in the writing overall and the amount of detail given to stories that didn’t contribute to the plot, and the super quick delving into her past and ultimate wrap up of the book that lasted 2 seconds.
