It was a good read, I don’t wanna say light because there were some very heavy themes but the writing and the storyline wasn’t super complex so I’ll say it was an easier read? Not my favorite but still enjoyable!

Definitely more of a romance than a thriller, but I loved it!

A fun escape. A lot of build up for a beyond-fast-paced last quarter.

The pacing was as you'd expect from a James Patterson book, with more emphasis on the characters and the music than on the 'Big Bad' hovering in the background.

As for the protagonist, I liked her snark. I didn't care for the tired tropes of miscommunication and damsel-in-distress-but-special. On the bright side - I expected the payoff would be a tidy happy ending and that's exactly what I got.

It's really more of a 3-star (liked it) for me, but Dolly Parton bumps it up one for me.

I loved the country music elements to this book, I thought it covered current, real world issues with care & honesty, and I felt like the country music scene was a fair representation of Nashville.

However, the combination of Dolly & JP didn’t work for me. The story of a rising country star could have, and perhaps should have, been a standalone story. The thriller elements fell flat & often I felt like I was reading two completely different books.

For a book with such strong female representation I was bitterly disappointed in the ending.

Dolly Parton and I are the same height... I didn't realize she was so short...

Anyways the book was okay. I found the mystery/ suspense to be rather lacking. It read like a Dolly Parton fan insert fanfic (which is not an insult just how it reads). Felt like a bit more should have been explored in the ending we just abruptly changed locations ...
