Ms Dolly Parton did NOT disappoint! She’s also one of the narrators! Everyone knows Dolly’s oen game is crazy for songwriting so it makes complete sense that the storytelling of a young rising country singer on the run would be told so expertly and with such nuance and care.
Not perfect, but a fun and interesting read. I'm not a huge fan of Patterson, but I am of Dolly Parton. Sometimes I think that the styles of the two may have clashed a bit and one or two elements stretched credibility, but I was ok with most to advance the story. I loved most of the characters and wish a few more had a bigger part. The 'inside' look at the country music scene and especially radio was interesting. The facts about women vs men played on the radio made me think....there are so many incredible women in country music I want to check if those stats are real or part of the story. Rec for Dolly fans, for mystery fans that are tempted to sneak a peek at the ending, and for fans of independent (and stubborn) women.

Very generic storyline with unremarkable character development, predictable and rather unrealistic plot, and an ending that felt rather random and rushed. I did enjoy the audiobook narration.
Minor: Domestic abuse
I enjoyed this story of a young musician running from her past and to her future music career in Nashville.
I’d forgotten about the opening scene until it was revisited towards the end so didn’t see it coming. (Probably just as well as it is pretty unbelievable!)
I enjoyed the country music themes and being able to picture some of the Nashville locations but some parts of the story were quite slow and drawn out. Then, just when I was starting to lose interest there’d be a twist/piece of action that would have me turning the pages fast again.
There are a few crazy scenes/ideas in this story but that’s ok… it’s fiction after all!

I enjoyed listening to the audiobook. Rather predictable and a little over the top but an easy listen and lots of parts made me smile.
