I'm a massive fan of Dolly Parton, but I'm not a fan of this book.
This was an interesting read because you could really see some of Dolly coming through in the writing, and you get an idea of what her mindset is like as a country music star. I say this because some of the decisions MC makes does not read as a new player to the industry, it's decisions someone who has leverage and is obviously seasoned in the industry would make.
Whilst we're on the topic of MC, something that bothered me was things just came too easy to her, and she was so good at everything. I think it would have been a bit more believable if she had suffered some more believable hardships as part of her journey. That's as opposed to unbelievable hardships, which there are a few of in this book.
All in all, this is still an interesting read, even if for the wrong reasons. It's 90% small town girl tries to make it as a music star and 10% mystery. Which is great, because I'm not a murder mystery fan anyway.

What can I say about this book? After looking forward to reading it I was a little disappointed. The characters and story was predictable. AnnieLee Keyes comes to Nashville to pursue her dream of becoming a country singer and is running away from her past. Ethan Blake is a musician who falls in love with AnnieLee. Ruthanna Ryder is a legendary country singer who is retired. The story goes on and on about how the two help AnnieLee make a name for herself while she tries to forget about her past. When the past catches up it’s predictable; her common law husband and some other men claim she belongs to them, and by this point of the story didn’t really care about any of the characters. I wanted to enjoy this story more but I just didn’t.
4.6 stars. I really enjoyed the flow of this story. I can see this becoming a movie and Dolly playing Ruthanna.

I adore Dolly Parton and really enjoy books by James Patterson.
Run Rose Run follows an up and coming young songwriter and singer. She has hitchhiked to Nashville to escape her past, but can she really get away from what is haunting her?
I picked this bick up by chance recomended by the librarian. Glad I did. Enjoyed the book all the way through the ending!

My husband bought me this book because I love reading and I love Dolly Parton. She paired up with James Patterson for this book. And I have to say that they make one amazing team. It follows a young girl named AnnieLee. She is dirt broke and now in Nashville. She is determined to become a star. But she is haunted by a dark past that is going to follow her until it catches up with her. Ruthanne is a famous country singer who also owns a bar. She has retired from singing, even though everyone is wanting her to come back. Tired of the life, along with a tragedy in her past, makes her weary to get back on stage. Ethan is an ex military guy who is also a singer, but has no desire to be famous. He works with Ruthanne some on music, but doesn’t mind being on stage at a small bar just singing. When these characters all come together you will get to watch a friendship build, to the point where it heals both from their pasts to develop a friendship as deep as family. You will also watch someone who has been afraid to love find someone special in their life. This is such a beautiful story. Hang in there when the dark stuff comes, it’s worth it in the end.
