I really liked the idea of this book and was super excited to read it. The book just fell really flat for me. Like the chapters could have been a bit longer and I didn’t really like any of the characters. I also found myself just not caring about anything that was going on. I could tell that the ending was supposed to have like a heartwarming sad moment but i felt nothing sadly.
Three stars because while i did not like any of the characters much, I give credit to the author for writing such developed characters in such short vingettes.

It's a fast-paced book in which every chapter you're presented with the struggles of the characters. Even if you can't really get to well know the characters, the author manages to get you engaged and keep reading. For me, it was a slow start and a bit hard to get through the first three chapters, but after chapter 4 you get more interested in the stories.
The writing of this book isn't revolutionary, but the way the stories are structured and told is what makes this a 4 star review for me.Each chapter is an airport ETA, with characters traveling from London to Bangkok and several cities in between. The book starts of with a woman traveling to meet a family member and becomes sick on a passenger sitting next to her. The subsequent chapter features that passenger she became sick on and thus begins 12 short vignettes that serves as glimpses into various moments, monumental and quiet, into various people's lives
There were some stories that I wish the author would have stayed with longer, but that's the point of the book - every day, we encounter people that we meet in passing or in a brief moment and never learn anything else about them from outside that moment.. And life goes on.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Good but really short. I enjoyed the connections between the stories but was left wanting to know a lot more about the various characters. Job well done on making me care about these people in such a short time.

Szalay so eloquently reminds us of how small and interconnected the world is through poignant vignettes that follow several individuals through the emotional and physical turbulence of life.
A quick pleasure to read, although I would have appreciated it more if the characters’ stories had both more depth and breadth.

It was very easy to enjoy this book: first off, I’m a sucker for different POV’s with characters that interrelate in some way or another. Plus, we got to travel to different countries with each chapter title being a « flight » from one place to the other (ie; DEL - COK). Although this book is very short (150 pages), it tackled different societal issues (racial profiling, biracial marriage, toxic masculinity, etc). The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars is because some lines didn’t make me feel too comfortable...I think the message the author is giving is denouncing the realities of these issues, but it is done way too shortly so some issues are just left announced and not solved...if that makes any sense.
this was short which i appreciated but it wasn’t really all that good? like it was never bad but it also wasn’t actively good. i do think if i had focused a bit more & not read it on a school day i would have appreciated it more but i just didn’t like getting to know each character for such a short time
