Engaging The Office Enemy was a deliciously sassy and sweet romance, and exactly the lighthearted and fun distraction I was hoping it would be. A blend of some fun tropes... part enemies-to-lovers and part workplace romance with a splash of fake fiancé, and it came together fantastically in this hilarious romcom. It was a trope-tastic delight! The characters are both so likeable, the chemistry is there, and the bickering/bantering made it such a fun read.
I loved Alexis and Dax’s story of rivals to friends, enemies to more. There isn’t anything I love more than good banter in a book and the banter between these two was excellent. From the start, these two had me chucking with their back and forth and as the book went on, it only got better. Not only was the banter great, but their chemistry was fantastic. I loved their fake engagement. I could see the sparks really start to fly then. As they get to know each other, though, something between them shifts with the realisation that, perhaps, they have more in common than either of them realised. They both bring a lot of baggage to the table, however, and trust doesn’t come easy for either of them, especially for Alexis. The build-up of this relationship along with the undeniable attraction burning between Alexis and Dax made me giddy. The romance here was a delicious slow burn that I couldn't get enough of. I was eagerly turning the pages just waiting for that moment when Alexis and Dax finally give into the chemistry between them. And when they finally did? YOWZA! On the surface this was a funny romcom, but there were layers of emotions Alexis and Dax had to wade through beneath that humorous surface, and there was an abundance of swoon worthy moments that I just adored.
Low on the angsty drama but high on the sweet romance, Engaging The Office Enemy is a sweet, slow-burning love story chock full of feels. Another masterfully crafted story full of charm, comedy, and emotion. I laughed and swooned my way through this book, and I loved every single second of it.

The story
Alexis is a graphic designer and brand manager. She hates that her boss’ nephew Dax gets all the good clients. She’s a bit of a grump though, and her boss suggests that Dax help show her the ropes, even though she’s been at the company for years longer than he has. But Dax needs help to secure a new job - a fake fiancé. Can Alexis pull off the ruse to get rid of Dax?
My thoughts
I have read a few of the books in this cutie-pie series, and they are really easy to read. Even though Alexis chooses to help Dax for all the wrong reasons, she starts realising that her long held trust issues may not be fair to herself or others. There are some deep emotions tackled in this story, but it never feels dragged down by seriousness. A fun read ❤️

Super fun closed-door RomCom with lots of laugh out loud moments! Definitely enjoyed the banter between these two!
I was looking for a quick, light read to break up my streak of darker reads.
It was certainly bright and fast, but it was also mediocre at best. My main issue was that the male lead was entirely personality-less, despite the tragic backstory. I did enjoy the friend group.

From all the teasers I knew that I would enjoy Alexis and Dax with all their witty banter and enemies-to-lovers, fake dating goodness. But honestly, this book hit me in a way I didn’t expect in the least bit. So good. So relatable in so many ways to my own complicated life. It felt like Kristin took so many pieces of my life, shook them up, and they landed with each character, making them so relatable. I laughed out loud, I cried, I felt really deeply with this one and I loved it so much. ♥️

This was such a fun RomCom book with all the feels! This is my first book by Kristin Canary and it won’t be my last! I stayed up late last night to finish it - when you have enemies to lovers, fake dating and a one bed trope all going on at the same time - you know there will be a fun ride ahead of awareness and chemistry
