This book was average, however, I could not put it down after the 50% mark. It was like trying to look away from a car crash. I had to know how it would end and see how the shitstorm settled.
In terms of literature, it was nothing crazy or exceptional. As commentary? This is something I would recommend to people who enjoy politically ambiguous and nuanced content. The contents and messaging of this book were incredibly white and American. The "democratic" voice of Gabe reflected a lot of liberal or democratic voter rhetoric where they agree to a lot of left ideas without much critical thought. It was very heavy on the Queer rights aspect (duh) but did nothing to discuss intersectionality.
The dynamic of 'republican' vs 'democrat' in the relationship was very interesting. I could not help but treat Gabe with the same judgment that he hated receiving so much because of his decisions. I just wish the book tried to dive deeper into that particular strain.
Kate and Nicole were just toxic. It was not a fun storyline, it was unnecessary and frankly boring. It did not do much with the ending.
Overall, it was interesting enough but it skimmed across the issues I wish they dived deeper into.

Was not going in the direction I thought it would. Seemed to focus a lot more on Kate and Nicole than expected. It reminds me a lot of books by Kiley Reid though and if you liked her books, you'll probably like this.
