The characters are great. The plot believable. The word choice and language is a little simple for me though. Being that it is a young adult novel, however, that is very appropriate, and, if I didn't love Anne Rice so very much, I might really, really love this. Anne Rice's writing is eloquent and complex, and I couldn't help comparing.
My favorite book of the series was Midnight Sun from Edward's perspective. Not only did I enjoy his more mature perspective, but I got to hear the thoughts of everyone around him.
My last favorite was Life and Death, which just didn't work for me.

Am I the only one who thought this series ought to be used as kindling? Or perhaps be thrown in the recycling bin? (Desperate voice) Because this series was TRULY bad excruciatingly painful to read.

OK books but not great. A blatent rip off of The Vampire Diaries. Bella is a bit annoying and I swear she has Mono. Edward is a bit of a stalker. Better than the movies and good enough for a weekend when you don't feel like leaving the house, but have read better.

Why the two stars? Well... it's not as bad as some say. I mean, I've read worse (mostly on ff.net). It was entertaining, back in the day when this was my introduction to the dangerous, attractive alpha male. Hey, we've all been there. Don't deny it.
Okay, you can if you must. Lucky you.
I WAS THERE, I HAD A TWILIGHT PHASE. I'M SORRY.

Fortunately, as the series began its downward spiral into genuinely disturbing and controlling behavior and general WTFery, I began to see the light.
Hi, I'm Jenica, and it has been five years since I last read a Twilight book.
