I always convince myself I don't like fantasy or sci-fi but then I love books where people communicate with the dead or have any form of extra sensory perception? What is wrong with me? Anyway, this book was very enjoyable! It had everything a gal could ask for: ESP, a friendly grandmother, mystery and murder! I'll be looking out for other Lisa Unger books to read for sure :-)

I really enjoyed this read and am looking forward to reading more Lisa Unger.
I found the pace through out the first 3/4 kept me interested without moving too fast but towards the end it sped up and felt disjointed in parts. I would still recommend.

Creepy, entertaining. Cross between Medium and Criminal Minds.
I read this is in one day - I stayed up past my bedtime to finish it. Yes, it was worth it.
Finely has moved in with her grandmother to understand her abilities better - the voices of the dead asking for help.
Young girls have disappeared from The Hollows over decades - they went for walks with their family in the woods. The family is never seen again - Poppa kills the family and takes the young girl.
Penny had gone for a walk with her father and brother. They were shot while Penny was dragged to Poppa's house.
Merri, Abby's mother, hires Jones and Amelia to investigate her daughter's disappearance. A mother's last desperate attempt. But Amelia knows this isn't her case - Finely comes into her powers and must help solve the mystery.
This book is creepy, suspenseful, and a great ending. I highly recommend.

So much going on here. The opening of the book had me really excited for where it could go but then it went downhill fast. Too much going on, and too many POVs
Finley Montgomery sees people other people don't see. Her grandmother can see them. Some of these people are distant relatives, some are simply dead people who need something from her. Usually, Finley tries to ignore them. She is training herself to interact with them on her own terms, not letting them dictate her life, with the help of her loving grandmother.
Recently, a little girl has gone missing. Finley begins hearing a weird noise that she quickly realizes is paranormal, nobody else hears the noise except for her grandmother. They discuss the noise trying to determine what this could be, and how it could be a clue to anything. This noise has no context. Eventually, the missing girl's mother seeks out the help of Finley's grandmother who occasionally does some work with a private investigator as a psychic in unsolved cases. The grandmother realizes that this case is for Finley alone to solve, and can't be of much assistance this time.
The investigation they embark on turns out to be much more involved than simply a missing girl, and the end has a twist that you will not see coming at all. Along the way, some very despicable characters are introduced, and at times I wanted to shout at the characters that they were doing the wrong thing, and I enjoyed this. The suspense keeps the reader at the edge of their seat nearly start to finish.
I highly recommend this to anyone who likes psychological thrillers, or paranormal thrillers.
POTENTIALLY DISTURBING CONTENT:
Sex: no explicit sexual situations, though child molestation is alluded to
Violence: kidnapping, violence against children, murder
Language: curse words are used liberally throughout the entire text.
