Too much narrative from so many points of view with criss crossing stories. I liked the story, but the telling did my head in.

I received an ARC from Netgalley.
Another great book from Lisa Unger! I greatly enjoyed the mystery and the characters. The paranormal aspect was well written and loved the twist at the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Touchstone for this free readers edition. In exchange I am providing an honest review.
Unger's town The Hollows creeps me out. Which is brilliant on her part, it keeps readers coming back for more. So far, reading Unger's work is pure pleasure. She writes a good thriller.
In this Unger title people are disappearing, some of them under the same kind of circumstances, and Finley might have clues as to their whereabouts. The problem is the clues she gets are through physic abilities and that's always a tricky thing to explain. Some believe, some don't. Her grandmother, Eloise, is her mentor in these abilities she has and when noises start up and people who are clearly no longer alive start appearing Finley knows she won't be able to stop hearing and seeing until the mystery is exposed and resolved.
Unger writes quick reads, quick because you can't out them down so you just read and read and read until you finish. She has an ability to present an option only to twist it on the reader somewhere near the end. And when the twist happens you think, "How did I not catch that?" I love authors that can do that and do it well.

I liked the story and the characters, but the paranormal parts went on a little too long for me. I felt like the ending and twist could have been better explained and wrapped up.
Narration wasn’t up to par, for this book. I’m might have enjoyed it better, reading it myself.
A young girl, Abbey Gleason, has been missing for months. In her despair, her mother turns to a private detective who is "assisted" by Eloise, a psychic. But this time it's not her receiving the messages, but her granddaughter Finley. Finley now tries everything to find out what happened to Abbey (and maybe other girls) and find her.
The novel has quite a paranormal, or let's say supernatural, touch to it. It's all about hearing voices, seeing dead people and receiving messages. But I think that's what I enjoyed most about it. The constantly shifting perspectives and throwbacks give reader a good overall view over what's happening simultaneously or has happened earlier. The Hollows, where the story is set, seems to be a quite charming place at first, but many secrets are buried there. Lisa Unger also did a great job at inventing and introducing the characters, it was easy to imagine them and I could understand them all, and I really liked Finley and Rainer. The plot was good, too, and there was quite a twist at the end. So, overall a book that kept my attention throughout and one that I would definitely recommend. And I hope there are more books to come! :)
At this point I would also like to thank NetGalley, Lisa Unger and Touchstone for providing me this free ebook!

You know...I struggled with this book a bit. It's a fantastic plot but I wanted more from some characters and less from others. I wanted to read more about Finley and Rainer and less about Wolf and Merri. And...are there no faithful men left in the world?!! It was just such a common theme that kept popping up that made me incredibly sad.
