Pretty good. Kept me interested, but I wasn't spell bound. I would recommend
Being the fifth book in a series, I did feel a little lost at first when I started reading this one without any prior knowledge of the characters or this wacky town called The Hollows. But the story reels you in quick and you're hooked. The pacing was excellent, the characters flawed and human and relatable, and the ending had enough twists and turns that made this entire adventure worth it. It feels a little backwards, because it is, but now I want to read the rest of the series.

Meh.
Seems like it’s trying to hard to have figurative language- it sounds like a student trying to incorporate imagery that doesn’t flow or add to the story.
Then the story becomes a snarled ball of too many lines. While there is a supernatural element, it doesn’t explain the actions of the normal people close to the villain, and there are a lot of threads shoved in without a feeling of cohesiveness.

Paranormal mystery/thriller with multifaceted, bamf female protagonist? Yes, please!
PS I was given a free copy of this book to review, and I was so excited to get it!

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
I am not generally a fan of the paranormal novel, however, this is definitely one worth the read. It is a mystery, a thriller and could even be described as a coming of age novel. The main character, Finley, sees and hears people that others cannot. She is young- 20 years old and is working to figure out, just as any other young woman does, exactly who- and in her case, what- she is. We see her grow in her knowledge and confidence throughout this psychological thriller. Unger gives you glimpses of where the missing girl is being kept and we see these scenes through the eyes of other characters and the whispers surrounding The Hollow. Lots of surprise twists and turns as well as characters that you hope to see more of in future books.
Great read!

The book drags a bit here and there, but I was caught up in Finely's story, and enjoyed it for the most part. The Hollows is an interesting place, and I will definitely check out the other books that take place there. I do have to mention that this story is a bit heartbreaking, so be prepared for that. The ending is both happy and sad. I didn't cry, though, so there's something. Ha! I hope that there will be more books featuring Finley, as it did seem to be left open to do so.

In all ways, this book really should hit home for me, but it just didn’t really do it for me.
The characters didn’t speak to me the way I wanted them to, and maybe it’s something in Unger’s tone but I couldn’t help but feel like I was being handled all the way through; way more telling than showing and that miffed me.
All in all, not a bad book at all but also nothing special to me.

Definitely want to read more of this series!
Things I loved: the setting, Finley, Eloise, the paranormal element, the gruff ex-cop
Things I didn't love: Rainer. Ugh get. It. Together. His scenes with Finley made her more unlikeable to me. Wolf - I liked him ok until the last few pages of the book. All in all a good read and I will definitely be checking out her other books.
