I was very excited to read this, but I didn't receive the feelings I hoped for. 

The introduction was so spice-loaded, that I wondered when we'd get to the actual character development. The extensive internal monologues and the repetitiveness started to get to me. It got more interesting when the time jumps happened. And then the pacing slowed down. 

The book was very tug-of-war. 

Leland and Franklin had interesting conversations. I felt some of the emotions and the complexities of their relationship. I just wish there were more impactful scenes of them falling for each other, which happened in the end. I don't know. It's not bad.
