Leland and Franky meet when they both need the courage to be brave; as their relationship develops, so does their courage. When that changes, they both backslide. They have to learn how to face their pasts and move on to put themselves first. The Fishermen was broken down into a couple of parts, and each one featured a time jump. I love how the characters from the first book came into play, and we get to see more sides of their story. This one was full of angst, but it was worth it in the end.
I honestly don’t even know where I land on this goddamn book forreal. It had me in the first 30% and then it lost me. There were so many things wrong with it.
First and foremost why the fuck was this book 2 in the series and not number one? Every single thing that happened at the start of their relationship completely shit on what we knew from book one about Jasper and Cole’s parents which hello FRANKLIN is his father. And I do mean everything and the end of book one Franky shows up and single handedly fixes the issues that were present in Jasper and Cole’s relationship all for that to then again he put in jeopardy in book two by making us lowkey hate him for what he then does to Leland in the present but to Cole, Jasper and Selene in the past. I did not like that.
Secondly there was no telling of what timeline this was on. In hindsight yes I know it had to have happened before Lelan and Cole became friends but the entire time I was reading it made me second guess my like for Leland and his friendship with Cole. I absolutely did not like knowing how the story was going to pan out from the beginning and was confused at the same time because we did not get any timeline explaining at the beginning of each chapter or parts in the book.
Third why the hell was their sex so violent and why the need for all this use of cum. ISTG I wanted to throw up it was so excessive and unnecessary and it added nothing to the story? So many things were throwaways and had me asking out loud like “why is this here” it’s like sprinkling parsley ontop of food for razzle dazzle. It added NOTHING to the story.
All that to say I couldn’t stop reading it though so idk if that classifies this as a hate read or if I read for the vibes cause i definitely saw it all the way through and I was satisfied with the ending, cheesy as it may be.

4.5 stars
Loved this story so much! The only reason I docked it half a star is because it does take them a bit longer to get together but slow burns give me a bit of anxiety

This book was finger licking good. (IYKYK.)
Without a doubt one of my favorite cookbooks (cockbooks) I’ve ever read. When you dip, I dip, we dip.

Franklin and Leland are two souls who've been through so much and this book takes us on a real journey. CP Harris is master at making even "toxic" relationships beautiful. Her men love so hard that you know they are meant for one another no matter what. Please read it. It's so worth it!
franky and leland were so beautiful. i enjoyed reading this but definitely not as much as i loved reading the good liar..
but what I will say is this whole relationship and how it grew over time was so fascinating and i really enjoyed that aspect. the whole meeting of leland and franky, the crossing eachothers paths again, the secret relationship, the sexual tension, the buuuuurn of these two. i will say some of the things i read i will probably never forget. ever. mayo and fries won’t ever look the same fr.
i loved the balance of them both and what they gave to each other while they were doing what they were doing. my heart hurt for everyone involved when it came to certain moments.. like fuuuuck. the drama and spectacle was there and had me stressed but it soon smoothed itself out and these loves got their hea.
i’m extremely excited and nervous to read the next and final book, sweet, lovely noon, i know some spoilers and now i’m s c a r e d

ew i just couldn’t do it. i hated the name franky. i hated the characters. it made me feel a bit sick with all the eating 🤢 i really wanted to see how cole deals with it but ill have to just see a spoiler.
I really enjoyed this one. Slightly better than the first but not by much. Some serious angst in this one. I did drop a star from my review because even though this is considered a stand-alone series I felt like if you read/listened to the first book in the series there is a bit of foreshadowing and it took FOREVER (at least it felt like it) for the two points to connect. I kept waiting and waiting and waiting for the book to get to the "present" time.
How many times did I read Franky?! Why did Leland feel the need to mention this man’s name over 800 times but I still enjoyed the book but it got to a point where I had to check
