The “conflict” was way too long and could’ve been resolved way sooner

“Just because it’s the truth doesn’t mean we should act on it, because an even bigger truth is that this won’t end well. I can’t make you any promises. I will likely regret what comes next, and I’ll likely hurt you beyond repair.”

4.5 ✨

This book drained me. Emotionally, physically, psychologically.

I didn’t think Cole and Jasper could be topped, but C.P. Harris put crack in this book because Leland and Franky shouldn’t have been this potent, addictive, downright fucking dangerous.

Franklin. Ooh how I didn’t understand Franklin in the first book, but after inhaling this, I may understand him way too much. And Leland, who comes off so confidently but is really just this insecure boy masquerading as sexy, flirty whore. Them coming together was a lesson in mutual destruction and redemption and I don’t know what to do with my life now.

One negative thing about this book however, was that the second half should have been longer. We got the necessary buildup in the beginning to show how the relationship came to be, the emotions behind every single move, and the eventual split, but the coming back together, the grovel, the “coming-out” aspect to Cole and Jasper should have taken up more page time. Don’t get me wrong this book is still absolutely beautiful but it could have been better.

This author makes me actively root for cheating. For pain. Angst. Torture. And she has the nerve to write a third book to destroy me once again?!? Criminal.

God this book was intense and built even slower than the first one.

This was heavy and dealing with a lot of tropes I usually tend to avoid (cheating, more than 5 years of separation) but to say that I hate it must’ve been a big LIE bc I LOVE IT. I love every second of it and I love the fact that Franky and Leland’s relationship with each other at the end didn’t cost them anything but a stronger family bond.

I could go on and on about this book but I will just keep it short. Pick this up for some slow-burn romance with a never ending emotional roller coasters from the start to finish.

I loved this. This was so great. Their love was all consuming. CP Harris is an auto read author for me. Loved it

The Fishermen by C.P. Harris is the second book in the Infidelity series. This MM romance story is about Franklin and Leland.

We actually got to meet Franklin and Leland in the first book, The Good Liar. Franklin is the father of Cole and Jasper, and Leland worked for Cole. We didn't get to learn a whole lot about Leland in the first book, but he was definitely an interesting character so I was excited to hear we would get his whole story in this second book of the series.

The relationship between Franklin (Franky) and Leland happens during a span of eight years. There is a twenty-year age gap, so it was great to see them start out as friends. I loved getting to see their relationship develop and turn into so much more. Franky and Leland had the most intense sexual chemistry. Their passion and love was everything. I also was a big fan of the possessive and jealous behavior, and I couldn't get enough of it. But just when you think they are going to live happily ever after, you need to prepare yourself to be emotionally wrecked.

Franky and Leland's journey was so emotional and heartbreaking. They both had so many obstacles to face and overcome, and all you want to do is keep rooting for them. I kept telling myself that their love and deep connection would bring them back together again and that they will get that happily ever after that they deserve.

The Fishermen is a beautiful story that I didn't want to end. This was an incredible book by an amazing author. The Infidelity series is phenomenal and I will not stop recommending it!

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.
