I did not love Leland or Franky to be honest. I also didn’t quite see the appeal they had on each other either. The time jumping isn’t always my favorite either, but I can’t hold that against this book since it’s just a preference. This book was sad and a little too dramatic for what I need in a romance book. 3/5 spice levels.

The fisherman!
The fisherman broke my heart. With its heart wrenching time jumps and the long awaited hard won HEA.
Leland is a sad boy who never felt loved. When the worst happens at 8 years old the poor kid is just doing everything he can to stay alive and to stay afloat. He deserves everything and every bit of happiness he can get.
Franklin is kinda… just going through the motions and not really enjoying anything about his life. His marriage is in trouble and he doesn’t like his job. Then he meets Leland and everything blows up from there. I’m so happy he finds the love he’s always wanted.
@authorcpharris definitely knows how to tell a story! I very much enjoyed this book as well as the first book in this series. It just makes me happy!

This is the first book I have read by this author. I was given the opportunity for an ARC for this book and the tropes really resonated with me.
This story is divided into 3 parts. Part 1 tells about the introduction, friendship and blossoming love.
Leland and Franky meet at a party. They are drawn to each other. When they meet again by chance, a close friendship begins.
Franky is married with 2 children. But he and his wife took a break because they both had to find themselves. Leland is also very sexually attracted to Franky. And Franky also to Leland. But he is straight and married. When they finally give in to each other, there are fireworks. Franky has sadistic traits and Leland likes it rough. They are a match made in heaven.
But all good things come to an end. Franky leaves Leland to care for his sick wife.
Part 2 tells the story of the friendship between Cole (Franky's son) and Leland. Franky kind of begged Leland to be Cole's friend.
Part 3 is about Franky's redemption to his sons and Leland.
To say that my heart has been broken many times while reading is an understatement. I really felt so sad for Leland, but also for Franky.
The spicyscenes were amazing accept the cumeating all the time. That was a bit of an ick for me.
This is a great book with lots of twist but not for the faint of heart.

Franky & Leland
I have been excited for this installment since finishing The Good Liar many months ago. It didn’t disappoint.
In true C. P. Harris fashion we are built up along with our characters before plummeting to the ground. We then have to army crawl over broken glass before making the painstaking climb the mountain to the daisy’s at the top. We know a bit of what’s going to happen (if you have read The Good Liar, highly recommended) but we don’t know what’s in between or what comes after.
I felt for both MCs in this story at different times. At one point I BEGGED Leland to walk away and have some respect for himself, but he wanted what he wanted. They both nosedive into separate spirals of depression or numbness, but somehow Leland still ends up chained to the Kincaid family.
Their story of healing was beautiful. All parties put in a lot of work to make this HEA happen.

Book 2 in the interconnected stand-alone Infidelity series. This books timeline preceeds & overlaps with the timeline of book one for a good chunk of it, we get Lealand & Franklin's story in this one. Franklin is dad/stepdad to the MMCs from book one, and Lealand is Coles executive assistant, but it turns out he did infact have a history with Franklin before ever meeting and working for Cole. These two meet at a work function Franklin is attending and they have instant chemistry and connection, they form a friendship that over time develops into more, Franklin is separated from his wife at the time so although the title of the series implys cheating I guess weather you view what happened between Lealand & Franklin as cheating will be subjective.
This gives what I was expecting in terms of the jealous, possessive, obsessive, angsty, pining, toxic codependency and kinky spice C.P Harris is known for with her characters and their relationships, however I didn't connect with these two or their story the way I did with Cole & Jasper from book one and I'm not entirely sure why. I think the spice overshadowed the emotional depth I needed from a story like this, and as great as good spicy times in a book is I needed more to believe and feel their connection than I got. I do think the author did a great job writing Franklin's guilt and how that manifested within him and I liked that she had both MCs seek out professional help along the way but other than that this just didn't hit the way I thought it would and I can't fully articulate why, I enjoyed i and found it entertaining but something was missing. Liam Dicosimo and Aiden Snow were once again fantastic in their performances, but they always are. 🌶🌶🌶
