Huh. I remember being sort of iffy on this series when I was reading through it a year or two ago, but this was actually pretty good. One of the twists was a bit painfully obvious, but the central mystery was properly mysterious and the book ended in a surprisingly satisfying way.
Sebastian's determination to find out who murdered a man who he saw as someone he could have ended up as gave him a little more substance than I remember him having, and I was pleased to see that motherhood didn't mean that Hero couldn't still participate in mystery-solving. All in all, I liked the book better than I expected to.

I adore this series! I was just a little sad that this particular entry didn't have a lot of Sebastian's personal life in it. But the mystery was still great.

It's the first book I read in this series and I'm glad I did it because I discovered this great series.
I throughly enjoyed it and found it gripping and entertaining.
The historical background is well researched and vivid, the characters are well developed and interesting, the plot flows and kept me hooked.
The mystery is solid, full of twists and turns, and kept me guessing.
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Edelweiss for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Who Speaks for the Damned - Harris-
Audio performance by Davina Porter
4 stars
This is the 15th book of a series that I continue to enjoy. This one takes place in 1814 during the Prince Regent’s celebration of Napoleon’s defeat. Sebastian St. Cyr’s ongoing quest for justice causes him to investigate the murder of Nicholas Hayes. Hayes was the third son of an aristocrat, convicted of murder, transported, and reported dead years before his actual death in a London tea garden. There are the usual layers upon layers of political and criminal intrigue. It was a good mystery. Sadly, it did not advance any of the dangling plot lines for several of the supporting characters from previous books. I guess that’s one way to keep a series going.

Who Speaks for the Damned is Harris back at her finest! A twisty, complex mystery that kept me guessing right up to the end. Sebastian and Hero are in top form and we got to catch up a little with Tom which was nice. I also enjoy her notes at the end explaining the historical events and what she chose to change to fit her narrative.
Long time readers of the series will be very pleased with this installment and new readers will want to go back and read the entire series. Harris' continued use of real historical events as anchors for the plot and characters makes the series engaging to readers who don't normally read fiction.
