We are using this book for some lit groups this year, and so far my sixth graders are loving it. It's a cute book with themes typical of middle grades lit. The plot is unique, albeit a little unbelievable, but that's what makes reading fun. I liked the incorporation of a pet and the role that pet played to help bond an unlikely group of friends. I know the lizard was a selling point for some of my students to choose this book to read as well. Overall, a decent read that is sure to entertain kids in the intermediate/middle grades.

Nine Perfect Strangers but for middle grade readers. Listen to audio book with 9 year old. She predicted one of the twists but was very into the suspense of the other twists and turns in the book, she wants to read more by the author.

*Reminds me of Louis Sachar's Holes. I just realized this wellness camp's mantra is "Be Whole." Funny connection.

*I told someone that this book reminds me of the Fast and the Furious franchise. The movies may not win awards, and they may not always get great reviews, but the people who watch them (including me!) love them. Similarly, this book isn't getting great reviews. However, it's a fun book to read. It may not win an award, but I think it will win over its intended audience.
