I read this book a few years back and remembered it being fine but nothing extraordinary. I was reminded of this while reading it again. The story could be considered fun and something akin to a fairytale you might tell a child in the fact that scenes don’t go on for too long, character development happens suddenly, and you don’t really get into the backstory of the characters too much. The lack of expansion on different aspects of the world and the characters themselves made me disappointed. The romance between the two main characters also doesn’t have any build up. Just towards the end of the book the main girl is like “Okay I guess I love him and we’ll be together forever”. It didn’t feel real or believable. Overall I would give it 2.5 stars, not worth the reread.
My first Gaiman and I loved it. It was so whimsical and I will definitely read more of his work! Well I mean I listened to him reading Stardust so I'll maybe check out his other audio books. I quite enjoyed the way he read :)
This is my perfect fairy tale. Sweet and scary and sexy, simple and sophisticated, wise and whimsical, all at once.
I think I liked the movie better—BUT the book was still very very good. Another hit from Gaiman.
And I think it is awesome that Gaiman narrates most of his own novels. The audiobook I listened to for Stardust included an interview with him at the end and he mentioned, among other things, how he thinks it’s best for the author to narrate their own work so listeners can hear the book exactly how the author intended it.

My heart is so full <3
This was my first Neil Gaiman book and it was a perfect start. What a beautiful story!

At times magical, at times terrible.
Gaiman wrote a great fantasy novel, if it weren't for how he depicted women characters.. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the book, but I liked the movie adaptation more!
Surprisingly graphic/vulgair at times as well, I doesn't fit the tone of whimsical/charming YA fantasy at all in my opinion.
Watch the movie instead!

Stardust follows a young man named Tristan who is tasked by the woman he loves, to catch a fallen star. Tristan’s love is unreciprocated and he hopes that by collecting this star he can win her over. In order to retrieve the star he needs to venture over the mysterious wall and into Faerie.
This was a reread for me. The first time I read Stardust I found it quite charming, but a bit odd. This second time around I decided to listen to the audiobook and I really feel that Gaiman’s narration added a whole new layer of depth to the story and made me enjoy it a lot more. This truly is a fairytale for adults, with all the whimsy and magic you’d expect of such a story.
