the film adaptation was my favourite as a kid and i've somehow only just got round to reading the book. i loved it and i loved how similar they kept the film, but this ending ?!

My main gripe with this book is that Tristan is not at all a likable protagonist, and even by the end he is merely tolerable. I didn't buy the romantic relationship, either; there is a short montage spanning several weeks near the end, which is supposedly when they finally developed feelings for each other, and also probably contains more interesting adventures than the rest of the book combined, but unfortunately it was only told and not shown. The ending is somewhat anti-climactic, which seems to be something of a Gaiman thing (like in American Gods and Good Omens, presumably to break away from the mold of needing to have a huge battle at the climax of a story). I watched the movie a long time ago and didn't like it very much back then; the book is quite different, and while it's not poorly written per se, I'm afraid I don't like it much either.
Gaiman commands faerie tales in Stardust. The splendor of the setting with the simplicity of the quest make this an easy and fun read. Perfect for giving me the push I needed to keep up with my reading goals.
qué historia más monaaaaaa por favor, tiene unas vibes de cuento entrañables, los personajes son extremadamente adorables y el estilo narrativo pff es que estaba todo tan cohesionado que la ambientación es perfecta. creo que no será un libro demasiado memorable pero se merece cuatro estrellotas buenas jiji
