it was annoying that she was so weak on the behalf of « hiding how strong she was » she really didn’t feel strong at any point tbh

I love hated this book. I wanted to like it, but I couldn't. I can't say it's back, the writing is nice and easy to read, but the plot and the worldbuilding... I feel like so much information was kept from us and not with a good reason. It makes me think that there are many plot holes and plot points that were not planned before and just appeared out of nowhere.
The magic system is not explained at all. My honest opinion is that the first book should set the tone and at least provide us the information that the main character knows which doesn't seem to be the case. Since Huntyr went through a whole magic academy, we should have grasped what the abilities of faes, angels and vampyres are, but I'm still so confused on what each can and can't do.

Me, majority of the way through: ‘How interesting the romance wasn’t set up in the most obvious way’.
Me at 75%: ‘There it is’.

If I have to read wolf saying ‘careful’ one more time I’ll lose it

Personally found this book to be a very slow start and had to push through (could’ve just been me from a slight reading slump) but once you really get into the story it is very good! Was NOT a dark romance of any sort in my personal opinion. Also wasn’t very crazy how she started out a very independent strong lead female characters but her main obsessive observation of the men in her life (during a life/death competition for months) was if they were protecting her or not, if they were coddling her it felt like. Would’ve loved to have seen a steady strong female character no matter if she ended up with a man or not. Absolutely adored the relationships once they blossomed, that ending though, I was so mad to see book two doesn’t come out till summer…I’ll be impatiently waiting

This book was basically copy and pasted from Serpent of the wings of night. I dunno who copied who but someone ran out ideas 5% into writing their story, even the ending was similar. I genuinely had to check the title a few times to make sure I wasn’t just rereading SOTWON.
I was quite disappointed with this book… I expected better banter I guess but this didn’t quite hit the spot, you know?
It was underwhelming, had an unoriginal plot line and the timeline felt a little bit all over the place.
Overall it was a 2.5⭐️
