Damnit, Rothfuss, just publish book 3 plz.

Like seeing an iPhone pic of the moon vs dancing in its mysterious, wondrous glow;
Like feeling a breeze vs riding the wind;
Like parroting pretty words vs speaking deep poetry;
A fine catchy tune vs a soul-molding melody;
Fireflies on a romantic evening vs a shower of illuminated golden sparks from the anvil of God.
Seeming vs Being.

This scratched an itch and invited thoughtfulness, but it is a lacking illusion.

I came to the review section looking to read people's opinions on the book. I was disappointed to see that most comments are not actual reviews.

Anyways. I very much enjoyed this book. I read The Lightning Tree a few years back and I since then I wished that I could have a physical copy of the novella on its own, so I was very pleased to see that The Narrow Road Between Desires was going to be released. It did not disappoint, because it's the same story that I had enjoyed before, but better. I really liked that we got a deeper insight on Bast's character. I feel that I understand him way better than before, and he became so much more compelling and interesting. I already liked him a ton but now I'd dare say he's my favorite character in the series. It was interesting to see him struggle to choose between his desires (the ones linked to his fae nature/instinct, which clash to the new emotions that arise from living in this new community alongside Kvothe and his wish to remain in it).

I always found Rothfuss' prose pleasing to the ear (or should I say eyes?). His use of metaphore is beautiful and clever. And...while I have to admit that I didn't particularly enjoy the sex related themes/scenes in the main books, I find that the sensual scenes in this book are delicate and witty. The fellow queer presentation in the book was nice to see as well.

There are many more things that I could say about the book, but English is not my first language and I'm writing all of this while pretty tired. There are not really any bad things that I would say about the book right now from the top of my head. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because I've read other books that I have enjoyed more, but it was a nice, relaxing short read.
