It's hard to choose a favourite from this series, but this book might come close (well, along with Anne of Green Gables and Anne of the Island! - Actually, every time I read the series I have a different favourite. Last time it was Rilla of Ingleside and this time around it is currently Anne of Avonlea. So, basically, I just love all these books So. Much!). I adore this chapter in Anne's life - it's wonderful to see her and Gilbert start their life as a married couple, especially as we saw so little of Gilbert in the last book. These two are quite probably my OTP and I love the fact that they retain their unique individualness even as they forge their new identity as a couple.

The new friends made in this book are also delightful - Leslie Moore, Miss Cornelia, Susan and of course Captain Jim. L.M. Montgomery's talent for descriptive writing shines beautifully in this book. All the moments of the residents of the little house are felt so poignantly - both the joy and the sorrow. And Four Winds is described so vividly that one really feels as if one was right there with Anne.

A lovely story and Montgomery is so good at introducing new characters with “kindred souls” that feel individual from the others we’ve met. I liked the ups and downs in this one a lot. It being a children’s book does dull the sad moments and uncomplicates all of the moments, but the various events in this one did feel fresher than those the last.

Finished it while running - think I found a new way to kill time on the treadmill!

By FAR my favorite book in the series so far. The depth of creativity and emotions is outstanding. Anne’s shine dulls a bit in this book (for the better) but she comes out even more radiant!

J'ai aimé retrouvé Anne au centre de l'histoire. Je dois Je suis cependant un peu déçu que l'auteure n'est pas choisi de lui faire poursuivre son rêve d'écrire
