Wrestling to find your way in life resonates without exception. (or that is my experience at least). The idea that at any moment we can reinvent ourselves, invent the “New Maddie” or the new “fill in the blank” is a beautiful element of being human. At any moment we have the ability to change, to make better (or different) choices, to stand up for ourselves, to be honest. I adored this book and will likely read again.

I wish Madie had a little more of an exciting break from her life once she moved out - it seems like she only got maybe one night of freedom but I love the honest displays of grief and the ending was very satisfying
3.5 stars rounded down. I thought this book was a really beautiful story about loss and finding yourself. I like books that show life in a realistic way and I thought Maddie’s relationships at work, with her family, and with her friends were relatable and emphasized that life isn’t neat and easy. The only thing that pushed it from “love” to “like” was the ending. Maybe a bit too clean of everything wrapping up nicely in a bow.

Slow paced but main character was enjoyable - many funny and heartfelt moments related to the MC as a bit of a late bloomer.
Another book I loved! This is my kind of book. I found Maddie highly relatable and it was cathartic to be in her head.
3.5 ⭐️ for me. This coming of age story as a late bloomer was beautifully written. I found large chunks of the story hard to get through, but that’s growing up isn’t it?
