i CANNOT believe that this is the same author that wrote “haunting adeline”. this book reads like a teenager that’s just discovered dark romance and proceeds to write what they believe to be the edgiest thing their brain could muster up. it was so incredibly cringe.
i found myself skipping over the intimate scenes - if you can even call them that. i was more interested in what was to become of the old man and finding out whether or not he actually had a person chained up he did!
enzo was annoying as FUCK! i feel as though it should’ve ended on the 36th chapter, maybe even before that. the book was rather predictable i guessed what was going to happen the entire read through.

This book was AMAZING. I was so attached to the characters from the start. I don’t know how H.D. Carlton does it every time. Her writing just sucks me in a every time. This book had everything, suspense, Romance, thriller, etc. I was rooting for Sawyer and Enzo from the start.

Overall really good book, fast read had me wanting to read more and more to see what happened next. I will say Carlton’s writing is very similar to the (haunting Adeline) series which I’m not mad about but I felt that it could have been a bit different. I did enjoy the enemies to lovers. Overall very good
