I never, and I mean never, read horror.
But a friend kept recommending this little gem and boy am I glad they did.
It was absolutely riveting; every page of it. And the poetry was so pretty.
It was like FNAF and T.S. Elliot had a kid in a The Shining version of The Hundred Acre Woods.

Beautiful prose.
I could have done with less time spent on each character facing their death multiple times and ruminating about it every time.

Creative plot. Terrible writing.

i liked this one, but it was kind of bad at… being about itself? i don’t really know how to describe it. it was interesting to a point but i ended up feeling like it didn’t really reach its full potential.

Fairy tale, fantasy, thriller, horror. Not what I expected. A surprising read.

In the hands of a lesser author, this would be edgy schlock. In the hands of a greater author, it might be a masterpiece. As it is, the book is full of compelling ideas and moves along at a good clip, with occasional moments of memorable poignancy. Only a few stylistic issues (e.g., head-hopping) hold it back from greatness.
