This was such a unique horror story.  The characters start out by celebrating their favorite book by participating in festival that is in the book.  Things then take a big twist where they end up meeting real life characters from the book.  Then the horror begins..  This book kept me on the edge of my seat with the story unfolding and the hunt.  I saw many parallels to American history and it seems that man again is the true villain.  I absolutely loved this action packed, multilayered story.

Sadly, another DNF review. The publicised plot very much attracted me. However, the quality of writing was so awful, I couldn’t make it further than Eamonn’s tour around the kitchens with its “litany of coolers”. It’s a nope from me, I’m afraid.

Rounded up from 3.5 starts. This is, essentially, the literary equivalent of a slasher movie — complete with a few jump scares. Think of it as Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Alice in Wonderland. And while the concept is unique, the writing haunting, and the gore plenty bloody, I wish the author had done more to delve into the “magic” of the Hollow. Still a good read if you like lots of murder and bloodshed.

So creative! Appreciated this likely because I follow the author’s social media and already felt a connection. Would make a great movie that would be too scary for me to watch.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I think it just came across as too big of a concept, too short of a story, and because of that everything felt kind of forced and hollow.

This book is going to live in my mind for a long long time. It's magical, lyrical, beautiful, brutal, and heartbreaking. I really didn't know what to expect when I started reading it, I purposely didn't read reviews or spoilers, so when it started I felt like I had been transported to a magical fairy tale world reminiscent of my childhood. Parts reminded me of Winnie the Pooh others of watership down, but this is not a sweet tale . This is a book that I feel will be a horror classic and a must read
