Poetic. Descriptive (sometimes a little overdone). Atmospheric. Unique story.

A dark tale for sure. Whether it’s compared to Pans Labyrinth or an adult Alice in Wonderland this one definitely dabbles in the horror genre. Was definitely a unique and fun divergence from my usual reading fare.

No.
Gory. Too long.
I think maybe I liked the writing style, not the story. Idk.

Indescribable

This book is written beautifully, both in the prose of the narrative and the poetry of the Winterset Hollow story. I really can't find other words to describe it. I think this one will stay with me quite a while.

This was a really fascinating book and I liked how the author got straight to the point and didn’t include too much unnecessary detail. I really enjoyed all of the characters and was honestly rooting for both sides. It broke my heart to hear about the past but it doesn’t make an excuse for how you act in the future. You’re only as good as those who have wronged you if you do exactly what they’ve done.

Delightful. This book is full of beautiful, atmospheric writing, and truly filled with fantastical horror. I love the connection between literature, nature, loss, vengeance, family, and hero-worship.
I struggled towards the end; it felt like the plot was being dragged out a little bit. However, I understood the meaning behind how that 'dragged-out plot' affected the overall plot and character development, so I can easily forgive that aspect of it.

I loved everything about this book. Beautifully written, touching, even profound - while also being bloody, intensely suspenseful, and mercilessly sharp. Don’t read too much about it. Go in knowing as little as you can. Just be prepared for a fantastic trip!
