I dunno what my problem was but I just didn’t love it. Which sucks cause I loved her last book and hockey romances are my bread and butter so I thought this was gonna tick all the boxes but I really kinda had to make myself finish reading it and found myself skimming sentences. 3 stars merely for the fact that the car scene was pretty hot and somewhat redeemed the book a little.

DID NOT FINISH: 56%

Dnf @ 56%, this was very much like a hallmark movie and I was honestly bored. Neither character really steals your attention. Was listening on audio but put it down to start another book and didn’t feel like going back to it.

Super sweet and swoony!

I don't like the couple and I don't feel like it is worth me finishing the book given that.

Meh. It was fine. A tad too long.

Delilah has had a crush on her brother's, Jack, best friend Ian since she first met him at 6. Now, at 28, she is a baker with a show that's dropping in ratings. To bring back viewership, she suggests bringing someone from her brother's NHL hockey team to gain interest. It just so happens that Ian is back in town, on her brother's team and working past a scandal (he cheated on his then wife who divorced him) that hit the news stands 6 years ago. His parents owns the hockey team he's just moved back to and he's hoping to retire at his home team.

Of course, he is the one sent to do the episode with Delilah and the sparks are SPARKING. And so begins the rumor that there might be something. This brings a positive spin to his current reputation while simultaneously bringing more viewers to her show. And so the fake dating begins.

Except it's pretty much insta-lust, actual sparks and dating without the title right off the bat. This book was more of the slice of life, pumpkin spice cafe, cozy but no substance story. The twist was super obvious from around 30% of the book and really, other than Jack being absolutely crazy fun, the whole book was kind of bland and ick. I loved that Jack was more hurt by the fact that they decided to keep it a secret from him... none of that weird protective brother bullshit we see so often.

It was also a tad weird to go from "kid" and "kiddo" to he wants to bang the shit out of her the moment he sees she now has boobs. This is the third Lana Ferguson book I've read and they have all been unimpressive. I think they're just not for me and considering my constantly growing TBR, it might be time to give up on trying.
