I get romance books aren’t supposed to be the most thought provoking but I can’t keep reading the same chapter over and over again for hundreds of pages. At least the villain in the story stayed the villain and didn’t have a lame redemption arc.
Maybe my expectations for this one were too high?
I just wasn’t impressed by the characters, the plot, or really any aspect of this one. I struggled to connect and had to force myself to finish it.
It wasn’t a bad book it just wasn’t a good book either.

I CANNOT EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS!!! this was the cutest story i've read in a big while!!
hockey player facing a PR crisis? his best friends SISTER to the rescue? they swear they don't have feelings for each other UNTIL BAM no choice but to admit it when everyone else already notices 🤣 at the end of the day, delilah agrees because having ian on her show is just what she needs to save it. way before they admit their feelings, the viewers already know!! i couldn't get enough of them! they're too cute. besides being cute this constantly had me giggling and needing to reread a scene just to experience it again!
this hockey romance is an amazing mix of each characters hobbies, add some romance and the perfect amount of spice AND THERE IT IS. good hockey romance where the hockey player falls in love with his best friends little sister 🤭
❤️ hockey romance
🏒 brothers best friend
❤️ fake dating
🏒 childhood crush
❤️ friends to lovers

One of the things I really liked about this book was the relationship between Ian and Lila. The dynamic between Ian and Lila’s brother, Jack, was also a nice change from the usual "best friend’s sibling" drama. Jack is supportive of their relationship, and while he throws in a few playful jokes, he’s not an obstacle like you usually see in this kind of story. It’s refreshing to see a supportive brother rather than one who’s constantly in the way.
The fake dating element could’ve been stronger. Their PR teams encouraged them to be seen together rather than actually having to fake it in a traditional sense. I think it could’ve added a bit more tension and fun if they had to really keep up the act, but it wasn’t a huge issue.
There was a plot twist with Ian’s PR problems that I definitely didn’t see coming, and it was one of my favorite parts of the story. The way Lila stood by him through it all, without question, was really heartwarming. It added some depth to their relationship and showed just how much they cared for each other.
All in all, I’d give this book a 4.5 out of 5. It’s a great, easy read.

Cute! There were a lot of points that could have had much more tension that didn’t really get there. I think I also just prefer the author’s supernatural books more.
I am going to eat this up like it’s my last dessert.
Update: and I did.
