Another enjoyable book. The recipes included seem so simple even I could make them but I guess I am lucky I won't even try...if I were a baker and reading cosies like this...I would be 400 pounds in no time.

Book 2 was no better than book 1. Hannah is still insufferable, and she still treats everyone in town like they're an idiot (in her defense some of them are. "I didn't know raisins are a dried fruit. I thought they just came in a box." Seriously?). The detectives apparently don't do anything, while Hannah's running around nosing into people's personal lives and condescendingly telling her sister how helpful she is! She can count the beeps on an answering machine!
I hope the real Eden Lake, Minnesota is nothing like Lake Eden, MN from the book, because there's an awful lot of murder for a small town and your HIPPA rights can be violated for a couple of lousy cookies and a red cream soda.

Okay, not gonna' lie: these aren't exactly books that I pick up because my brain needs a workout, but rather they are more like good company, especially as an audiobook that I can listen to while working on stuff around the house. Theoretically, I might make the Strawberry Shortcake recipe at some point because who doesn't love Strawberry Shortcake? But I also find Hannah to be rather relatable--she is aware of her awkwardness and yet is still happy. A good-company book.

Once again Hannah makes several comments that aren’t necessary. She makes some fatphobic comments that I didn’t care to read. She also makes some comments about native Americans and because the book was written by a white author that makes me uncomfortable. She also mentions that Boyd abusing Danielle is a shameful secret and that no one should know because his students idolized him. That really rubbed me the wrong way. That comment was not necessary at all. Like Danielle shouldn’t be ashamed about it because those were Boyd’s actions. Ugh that just really upset me.
The recipes are bad and they should feel bad. But hot dang I can run through one of these in a hot minute, and I don't have cable.
Another good fluff book. Writing's stilted and occasionally obvious, but I enjoy the recipes and storylines. You can't read deep, meaningful, dense literature all the time (or even most of it, in my case!).
