I absolutely adored The Hating Game, so I immediately decided to pick up another book by Sally Thorne. However, I was a bit disappointed to find that I didn't enjoy this book as much as the last. While 99 Percent Mine redeemed itself with a cute ending, I found the first half of the book incredibly painstaking. I was very tempted to dnf the book (mainly because I just didn't click with the mc and the plot was moving very slowly), but since the book was recommended to me, I decided to keep reading. That being said, after about 150 pages I was thoroughly hooked and I really enjoyed seeing the main character arcs evolve. The plot itself wasn't as entertaining, but Sally Thorne's writing was still just as beautiful (and if you can get over 100+ pages of filler chapters) I would recommend this as a cute romantic contemporary.

3.5/5 - Cute story but disappointing ending
The writing of this was hard to read. It was hard to separate Darcy's inner dialogue from the objective description of what was happening in the scenes.
I really thought that at the end, Tom was going to propose to Darcy with her grandmother's ring but he didn't. He just traded Jamie for it and then that's it? It's just hinted he'll give it to her in the future but I would've liked it if the book ended with that proposal.
I really liked how we got some smut when the author's The Hating Game did not have any.
Not sure if I would read this again. It was a cute romance but definitely not one of my favourites.

This book is amazing. Darcy is grouchy and has zero filter and wants everyone to think she’s big and tough. Tom is the human equivalent of a German Shepherd and he’s here to rebuild a house and look after Darcy. This is childhood-friends-to-lovers done achingly well. Also there’s a twin and a literal broken heart and a tarot card in the bathroom and a chihuahua named Peppermint Patty. I want to live in this world.

Fits the contemporary romance formula - found myself cringing at some of the plot points and really struggled getting into the book. Moved much slower than I like.

I usually don’t mind complex characters (heck, maybe I actually enjoy them), but there was not one redeemable character in this book. They were all awful, the chemistry was severely lacking, and the dialogue often made no sense. So disappointing.
A terrible read, i found the humour off and i didn’t understand darcy’s mind rambles most of the time. I was really disappointed with this one
