Not nearly as gripping as The Hating Game but still a fun read!
I tried to go into this without expectations because I adore The Hating Game. I enjoyed it for what it was, but couldn’t get behind Darcy not caring about her heart condition! Loved The Hating Game epilogue at the end though!
I’m naturally drawn to romances where the FMC is coy and there’s a slow burn, but this character being knee deep in love since before the book began was so refreshing. The complicated family dynamics made this more believable and fun
I feel so conflicted on this one. I liked it, but it felt so scattered. I don't even know if that's the word I'm trying to think of, but it's all that comes to mind right now. While their back and forth was cute and bantery some times, other times I was just a little confused about what was happening with their interactions and what they did or did not want each other to know. I get the feeling that was kind of the point, but it threw me off more than anything. Thorne had such an amazing debut novel in THG, that it's hard not to measure up any others to it, which could also be one of my issues here.
What a hot mess. I wanted a quick chick-lit read and am woefully disappointed. I'm short on time, so will echo another reviewer:
The main downfall of this book, and the reason why I cannot give it more than one star, is because the dialogue and writing of this book are downright incomprehensible. There are no transitions between anything or explanation about any characters or the setting or ANYTHING that I seriously got anxious when I was reading this, thinking I was dyslexic and I was misreading sentences. But no, it was just how this book was written. From the characters' interactions and dialogue making no sense to the remarkable lack of detail and disjointed writing, it was a pain to get through. UGH

Het was een beetje een sloom verhaal met heeele lange hoofdstukken. Uiteindelijk was het wel gelaagd en kwam alles aan het einde mooi samen. Je gaat echt meeleven met de personages wat het dan toch weer iets mooier maakt!
SALLY THORNE. I DEVOURED this book in less than two days!! This is how I want all my characters to be!! More of this please.
Darcy and Tom are childhood friends, along with Jamie, Darcy’s twin. But Darcy, who’s loved him since then, has travelled the world to find the perfect man, and no one beats Tom Valeska.
Her heart prevented her from living a full life, so now she’s gone off on the deep end, not caring enough to take care of herself. When Tom shows up to renovate her grandmother’s house to sell, Darcy decides to stay to help.
He wants to do it perfectly, but makes mistakes that may cause him to lose his business, so instead of him fixing everything for the twins, they take a turn at helping him.
Finally, they admit their love for each other, and after showing Tom his mistakes don’t matter, Darcy and Jamie give him the family he’s always had, but didn’t feel he deserved.
Great book, with some fun bits, intense, moments, and craziness of the Darcy variety.
