It is offical that i love Sally Thorne.
She makes up amazingly beautiful characters and give them deeply thought problems and creates an incredible book. I love this book. I love that it made me mad and sad and giggly and peaceful. I love that i love how Darce interacts with Jamie and Tom and how their circle works.
Also i loved the epilogues, one for this book and one for Hating Game. It was like running into a old friend in a new environment.
I love, i love, i love.

Listen, I love Sally Thorne, and I love a good romance book, but I have never disliked two characters/ not wanted two characters to get together more than Darcy and Tom.
Wow. I loved The Hating Game so much that my expectations were really high- and while very yummy, this didn’t quite pack the same punch. A fun read that made me all mushy!
I actually liked this. I was a little afraid because a lot of people have said they hated it. Now, I have never read The Hating Game so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I liked it.
**3.5-4/5**
I went back and forth on whether or not to give it 3 or 4 stars as a whole, and I decided to rate it down because I had more issues with it than praises. But, that's just me! It was a still a good read and really enjoyable so don't take the lower rating as "wow it's a shit book huh!" because it's not!
So I actually enjoyed this book a lot. I read it all, pretty much, in one day and it was just what I needed right now. I thought the slow burn was really nice and the romance was really well done - like that whole aspect of the book wasn't bad (still about 4 stars and could have used some more fleshing out).
It's the rest of it that I was kind of eh about.
One little simple thing was the editing. It needed one more round of editing because there were about 3 obvious editing whoopsies (no comma, no quotation marks, etc.) and some other more subtle ones within the story that could have used some rewriting.
The side characters and their relationships to the MCs. Oof.
So, simplistically, the parents were absent. To be honest, Darcey's parents didn't seem to love her all that much and she didn't seem to have much of an attachment to them, either. (Seriously, who leaves their child at home while they go to Disney with the kid across the street? Like, drive or something? She has a bad heart, god, sorry she's a burden.) It was like the parents were mentioned every so often to like remind the readers that, hey, they exist! It just didn't do much and I feel like that could have been done better.
The grandmother (whom the plot sort of side-revolves around) was kind of a jerk lol? Like, she made Darcey feel like everyone hated her being around/that she was a burden and caused her to leave and be on the run all the time. She didn't really help her any she just...gave her an escape from her issues. And then for her to be "so close" with Darcey, but then not leave her the ring that she loved was bizarre. I get sort of why she left the house to both twins? Like I can rationalize that, but everything else was just ????
Tom's relationship with her family was confusing. He felt like it was surface and he didn't belong, but they all loved him. And it's almost like he was the Third Child and a sibling to the twins...but then...he and Darcey...so I don't know that can come off as kinda yikes if you interpret it a certain way.
Truly (what) and Darcey's friendship could have been deepened. Not that they didn't feel like best friends, but there wasn't...really anything to prove it? Like the way they acted (other than the photographing scene) didn't really give a lot to readers. I'd have loved to have more of that in the book. Especially because she was "the mole" and it was expected but also a bit shocking like h o w, but whatever.
Jamie was a complete asshole for no reason and he never apologized. There was literally no reason for him to be such a dick to Darcey all the time, especially about Tom. And he never said sorry! He told her she was trash! And she just ignored it! Like, no thank you! No!!!!! He needed therapy and a good ass-whopping. I'm available.
Darcey got annoying and I can't pin-point why. Her whole thing with Vince was just there to make Tom jealous and idk everything got annoying with her.
The non-communication aspect to keep the plot moving annoyed me because that's one of my bIGGEST pet-peeves.
I like Sally Thorne's writing and I am exciting to see how she grows as a writer. I wasn't a fan of The Hating Game, and this one was better but still needed a little work. Wooooo!!!

I previously read The Hating Game and loved it, so I figured I would like this one too. I loved it! I laughed out loud and cried while reading it, which is what I want in a novel. I read this in less than a day. I even stayed up way too late for a work night to finish it. It was worth it!!!
