I liked the overall story / plot but the book kind of lost me towards the end. The alternate endings felt rushed and not particularly important. I didn’t like the style of writing but can appreciate the uniqueness of it.

The imagery was great throughout the book, I could really picture the scenes as they were described.

challenging dark emotional sad tense

I liked some of the experimental risks Quattro took in telling this tough story, but sometimes I felt like the cleverness veered on too clever and I didn't always know how to connect the dots between, for example, the art that is present in the novel and the story. I did think this was worth reading for its unique style and there's so much to discuss about religious fervor, building connections, and the exploitation of a young person.
