Love everything about this book until the end. Recognizing and stating how horrific life can be is not profound, we are all living it. In the first half of the book the author explored the theme of humanity's capabilities for kindness/maliciousness really well with the development of the two main characters (not counting two-step), but seems to toss that all aside at the very end to make a statement about how horrible life ultimately is. Lots of potential followed by a  disappointing and predictable end.

Life can be beautiful, and ugly, at the same time.  This book paints a truth that is hard to see and hard to turn away from. You’ll hate it, or love it, or both.  I couldn’t put it down.
