One of the most haunting books I’ve read in quite some time. Well worth a second read after I’ve taken time to explore how I feel after reading it this first time.

Love an author who mixes it up.

This is quite a unique novel. Imagine if Tara Westover's memoir, Educated, was narrated by her delusional father and was reminiscent of both Flannery O'Connor and William Blake. I really liked the narrative voice and the storytelling that unfolded through limited perspectives.

Inventive! Interesting. Never did I expect a revision of the Jesus saving humanity story. Fascinating and deftly constructed back stories for a dying old prophet and a young girl he tries to rescue. The last 60 or so pages were the most interesting part, and occasionally a little too didactic. But maybe in an ironic way? Will be thinking about this one for a while
